The
mission of the Ladies' Home of Oswego is to help our residents gain
and maintain optimal wellness.
Dearest Daughter,
It was so good to see you
and the kids the other day. I'm so glad you stopped by. Today was a
good day but it was busy as usual. I'll be glad when my head hits the
pillow.
Caren,
the resident care aide, is always so cheerful. She popped her head in
the door in the morning with her usual cheery, 'Good Morning, Sunshine!
Breakfast is ready! Come this way.' She remembers that I sometimes forget
which way to go. She walked by my side to the elevette where a few of
my friends were waiting for me. Breakfast is served in the dining room
I always have the same seat. We always have a few laughs in the morning.
Caren waits until I get my first cup of coffee before she hands me my
pills. It's so nice not to have to remember if I've taken them. I got
to sit for a third cup and chatted with my friends.
Today
was bath day. Caren is always so good about remembering everything I
need for my shower.
I always forget something. The shower is nice because you don't need
to lift your legs so high. Caren gives your back a scrub with a warm
soapy washcloth. That feels so good. I remember how much you loved that.
I was joking with Caren when she was helping me with my shoes that I
think my legs have gotten longer, my pesky shoes seem to be so far away
lately. She said, 'I think mine have too!'
Mary,
our activities coordinator, came to bring me to the beauty salon upstairs.
Missy comes every week to do our hair. I don't have to worry about having
the cash to pay her. Mary just draws it off my Personal Allowance Account.
Mary is something. She plans all kinds of outings and interesting things
to do. We'll be going to the fish stand on the lake next week. She comes
up with the craziest things! Bowling in the hall, 'Wrong Way Day', 'Balloon
Splat'. Yesterday she had us 'fishing' on the porch in a kiddie pool!
I caught three fish. The porch is so shady with cool breezes. The geraniums
in the courtyard are beautiful this year. So many people stop to smell
the roses peeking over the fence.
Mary
came to get me after my hair was done and made sure I got down to lunch.
Shirley is a good cook. She serves many of your favorites and she knows
that your arthritis kicks up often so she cuts up your meat. She always
knows when your cup needs refilling. Today is Bertha's birthday and
she had her daughter and granddaughter as guests. Bertha wanted chocolate
cake with vanilla ice cream, which is your favorite also. Maybe I'll
order that for my birthday and you can join me.
Today a guitarist came in
and we sang some of those old tunes, 'Amazing Grace' always brings tears
to my eyes. I think of your dear father. We took a walk around the block
before dinner. So they tuckered me out and I had a good appetite for
dinner. I was hungry for my evening snack too.
I'm getting tired and Louella
will be up to help me get ready for bed. I really don't need the help
(except for my shoes again) but
I
enjoy her company. She'll be dropping off the laundry she did for me
today. Kris, the night aide, will be popping her head in the door soon
enough to help me to the bathroom later tonight. I get a little wobbly
at night and she feels better if I walk with her.
Well, my dear, the bed is
beckoning. Come see me again real soon! Perhaps you will bring that
little rascal of a dog of yours with you. My friends have heard so much
about him, it's about time they meet him. We'll just have to let them
know so the cat can hide!
Your loving,
MOM
